Teen & Adolescent Counseling in Spokane Valley, WA

Child, Marriage & Family Counseling provides counseling for preteens and teens ages 11–19 in Spokane Valley, WA, helping adolescents work through anxiety, depression, self-esteem, self-harm, school pressure, and identity questions with counselors who take them seriously.

Why therapy for a teen looks different

Adolescents can smell condescension a mile away. Our counselors work with teens the way teens need — direct, respectful, and confidential — while keeping parents appropriately in the loop. The goal is a room where your teen can say the true thing out loud, maybe for the first time.

What we help teens with

  • Anxiety and panic
  • Depression and low motivation
  • Self-harm and suicidal thoughts
  • Self-esteem and body image
  • School stress and academic pressure
  • Bullying and peer relationships
  • Identity, including LGBTQIA+ support
  • Family conflict and divorce
  • Grief, loss, and trauma
  • At-risk behaviors

In-person or telehealth

Teens can be seen at our Spokane Valley office or by secure video across Washington — telehealth works well for busy school-year schedules, and some teens open up more easily from their own room.

Getting started

Meet our counselors and call the one who feels like a fit, or send us a message and we’ll help match your teen.

Common questions

My teen doesn't want to go to therapy. Should I make them?
A reluctant start is normal and doesn't predict failure. We suggest framing the first visit as a one-time meeting to see what it's like, and letting your teen have a voice in choosing their counselor. Most teens engage once they experience a counselor who listens without lecturing.
Will you tell me what my teen says in session?
Teens need privacy for therapy to work, so sessions are confidential — with important exceptions. We always involve parents when there's a safety concern, and we'll keep you informed about progress and how you can help, without reporting conversation details.
Do you see teens for self-harm or suicidal thoughts?
Yes. Several of our counselors work with self-harm and suicidal ideation in adolescents. If your teen is in immediate danger, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to the nearest emergency room — then call us to set up ongoing support.

Ready when you are

A first appointment is a conversation, not a commitment. Call a counselor directly, or send us a message and we’ll help you find the right fit.
